Covid Catch-Up Premium

Funding and Expenditure of the COVID Catch-Up Premium:

£1 billion of funding was announced by the Government in June 2020 to help pupils and disadvantaged young people catch up on missed education because of the Coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic.

Funding:

In Autumn 2020, Wood Street Infant School received the first of three tranches of funding to help our children.  The second two tranches have now been received and our funding totals £5,760.

Expenditure:

A lot of thought and analysis was considered very carefully before deciding on how to spend this additional funding in the best way possible for our pupils.  Two members of staff have been employed on a part time basis to provide additional help to our pupils who need it most.

Firstly, an Early Years specialist has been working on speech, language and social skills with our "2020 intake" Reception Class children.  The children are now in Year 1 and she continues to work with them. Secondly, an additional teaching assistant has been employed to provide academic interventions.  During the academic year 2020-2021, the TA worked with children across the school.  In the current 2021-2022 academic year, the TA is working with Year 1 children.

As a school we are determined to ensure no pupil suffers from the disruption to their education caused by COVID.
