Portsmouth Trip (Y2)

posted 28 Sep 2011, 02:13 by Lorna Slater
The Year 2 children recently visited the nautical town of Portsmouth
as part of their history education.  They started their day in the
education centre at Portsmouth Harbour learning about life during
the 18th century;  what people wore, ate and typical jobs.  The
children were allowed to handle historical artifacts to enrich their learning.
This was followed by a tour of HMS Victory.  The children toured
the different decks, learning about how the sailors lived on board,
the different roles of the sailors and how they fort in battle.  They
have since done follow on work in the classroom related to their
trip and what they learnt on the day.
